What's new

Just a simple still life pic - describes me in a way

Took this recently using a Kodak Easyshare Z700 and the lamp on my bureau. It took about 15 minutes to get all the elements positioned correctly. No flash.

Very nice. What are the knife things used for? Woodcarving or something? And what is the spoon looking thing with red stuff as well as the lid of red stuff on it? Looks like a thick paint?

Actually those are brushes from Yangzhou, which can be used in the red ink for scripting Chinese letters, and they come with a ceramic inkpot and a stone for tradition application of the ink to the bristles. You use the little spoon to dispense the ink. It's all pretty archaic but kinda cool.

The "M" inside the glove bothers me. I'm not sure why, but it does. Otherwise I think that's an excellent photo and much nicer than anything I could ever produce.

Somehow it reminded me of William Michael Harnett's After the Hunt.

That is a great photo.

In a totally non related (and somewhat anal retentive) subject I hope you don't use the Zippo to light your cigars. Wooden matches or butane are the way to go. They're a "cleaner" burn, the concept behind the Zippos is you can get a lighter fluid taste drawn into the cigar as you're drawing during the light.
