Not the best shave. I just can't figure out this Fatip - I'm convinced it CAN give a close shave, but either I haven't found the right blade pairing or it's too aggressive for me. I ended up with road rash - dabbing with the styptic pencil wouldn't cut it today - I had to drag it sideways across the cheek for relief.

Also, this never happened before. I guess my face wasn't quite dry from the witch hazel when I applied the balm, and the balm "curdled." No worries, though. Wipe off with a damp wash cloth and start again.

Close shave, even with the discomfort. 6/10

Notes:

Still in. Experienced done minor temptations but nothing outrageous. Guido @JAHE I believe Jack is on an extended trip - if he is doing what he told me he was planning.

A straightforward good shave today with a slightly tugging blade. Almost time to change it out.

Additional insights can be found here.

Enjoy your shave today!

Day 26, 86.7% complete

Still out.

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Nivea Men Shaving Creme
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC1.05 SB, Al Handle, Astra #10
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

I tried the 1.05 this time, with the same blade, and went for the full near-BBS.

It's more comfortable than my open comb GC, and I've not had any user error with it yet. As an everyday shaver, I'm sure it's overkill, but I wouldn't call it aggressive, just efficient.

It's not going to be a part of my regular rotation. I am glad I tried a slant to see what the fuss is all about, but I don't think there's any magic in a slant.

Thanks for the follow-up.

I read that you can simulate the slant action by adding a small horizontal movement to the stroke, while you are also cutting downwards (visualise an idealised WTG cheek-shaver here). A "Gillette Slide".

I always wondered if they were trying to boost their styptic pencil sales with maths students who thought "let's try 45° then, that must be optimal.":D

My regular shaving involves slide. Movement is regular but razor is at angle. 30° - 70°. Don't do it at home!

The cream works well for me, definitely worth a try. 👍 I really like the scent, too - unique, but pleasant.

Speaking about Eucris, the Eucris skinfood is incredible. I have rarely used a product after shaving that is "absorbed" by the skin so quickly. Strongly recommended.

However, both the matching Eucris EdT and EdP are quite a different animal. Boy, what a mean, dark scent. It's just over the top imo. I had ordered a fragrance sample but I haven't been brave enough to use it. Yet.
Does the scent of the Eucris skinfood stick around like an AS?

Razor: Schick E3 Injector
Blade: Schick Injector blade (9)
Cream: Geo. F. Trumper Eucris (sample)
Brush: Omega 10065 Boar
AS: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum

Finished off the Eucris sample, feels good to finish off a product even if it is only sample size. I have to say I really like the scent of Eucris, someday when I finish off more of my soap stash I'll get a full tub of Eucris cream.

I noticed that the spicy/woody (or even incense-y) notes of the scent of both the shaving cream and the skin food lingered on my skin for an hour or two... but it was a rather muted scent.

I would say that it doesn't interfere with another fragrance (edt/edp) as long as you don't use the skin food in too large quantities.
