So I just got my first straight razor the other day. It was sadly, not shave ready or at least not quite shave ready. It needs to be touched up so I can shave with it. I do not have chromium oxide paste to go on my strop. I do, however, have some jewelers rouge that I use to sharpen my leather tooling knives. Is there any way I can use this? I am a leather worker and so have a supply of leather scraps and straps I can test on. But I only have the one straight razor and would rather not mess it up. I think it might work because while watching the video by geofatboy on youtube, with him using the chromium oxide paste, I noticed that the sound made when he slides his straight down the pasted strop is nearly identical to my jewelers rouge.
Anyway, I really hope it works because if not I need to order something and wait for it to get here to Hawaii which means another week without using the new razor.
