Jeris Hair Tonic

So recently I started using Jeris Hair Tonic (with oil) and I love it. It's cheap and it's a barber shop staple which are what I look for in hair/shaving products.

It gives my hair a great shine that isn't greasy looking, and I love the smell...reminds me of Skin Bracer. Also, my scalp gets really dry and flaky so it really helps to keep that in check.

Anyone else use Jeris? What are your thoughts on it?

This is a normal thing at a barber shop. My barber always used it on me. They make one with and without oil. The "without oil" one seemed only like scented water and did little for thick hair. The one with oil worked well and could be adjusted as to the amount used as to how "slicked" you wanted your hair to be. I bought it in the barber shop but think it's sold at the stores like Sally's. It will probably pass away as a product before long.

How does it compare to Vitalis?
The one "without oil" is not too far from Vitalis. I think it has little-to-no hold. The one "with oil" is more like a Wildroot hold with more of a barbershop scent. Both kinds rinse out fairly well without having to wash each day if that's what someone prefers. No one (including my wife) ever mentioned the scent so it must not be over-powering.

I use Jeris without oil daily. I honestly use it mainly for the scent as part of my ritual. But it also contains glycerin, so it adds a little bit of conditioning to my hair. I like this since I have short hair and only use shampoo and not conditioner. I follow up my Jeris with Clubman hair gel. I would be very sad if this product was ever discontinued.

I have not used the with oil version. I do find Vitalis to be a bit heavier and offer more hold than the regular Jeris. I do enjoy both. And I actually think I like the cheaper Dollar General version of Vitalis better than Vitalis itself.

I like the Dollar General Vitalis knock off better too. It just smells of lemony goodness. Tres Flores is really good too. Both of their main ingredients is mineral oil, so both are just basically mineral oil and fragrance. Tres Flores' only 2 ingredients are mineral oil and fragrance, so I also use it to wipe it on my blades with a Q-tip. Works great!

I'll have to go find the fake Vitalis, although I strangely like the fragrance of Vitalis.

Sometimes I'll use Jeris w/o oil in the afternoon to freshen up the hold of my pomade. As the alcohol evaporates off the glycerin seems to add just the right amount of stickiness back into the hair.

Dollar General Vitalis feels like it has more alcohol and less oil then regular Vitalis

I love the stuff, the scent is light and not overpowering like Vitalis. What I like best about it (the with oil version) is that it adds nice shine to my hair, it helps to make the pomade I use have an even higher shine.

I use it With out oil and with Groom n Clean and it keeps my flat top standing tall.
Sallys has it here in TX.

I love the scent of Jeris, I have been known to use it as after shave.

You use the hair tonic as an aftershave? You know they make an actual aftershave though right?

Jeris - the version "with Oil" shouldn't dry out your hair. That type of Jeris can be much heavier than Vitalis or the "plain" version of Jeris.
Same for me, hair tonics all dry me out. Vitalis and Jeris. It's ok for a while then turns the hair dry after about 20 minutes.

Due to the extreme dry hair after using Jeris I bought some Brylcreem to use instead. Works just fine. I doubt I would use it daily but it did help with the dry hair.

I use Jeris W/O oil and a small dab of Boosters Lanolin. The combo has a nice scent, decent hold and leaves my hair soft, shiny with no greasy look or feel.
