Hi!
I'm relatively new to this perfume game, I have however found a world of fantastic scents!
My observation is this: Many people here equate good shaving creams with good EdP/colognes. My first real cologne was T&H 1805, which I though was nice, but nothing like the dream the shaving cream is. Then I bought Eau des 4 valeurs by L'Occitane, which again was nice.
In the last time however, I've tried to broaden my horizon. I was told to buy "Perfumes - the guide" by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez which includes a few essays and a lot of reviews. My first impression: "I can't find any of those I've been longing to try" (mostly shaving brand perfumes).
After a few weeks, I've gone from "I like to wear perfume because I smell nice" to "OMG when can I have more money, I want to buy that one and that one, I want to bathe in them!".
So guys: Try stuff from the french houses, like Guerlain (Shalimar (feminine, though), Jicky etc.) and Chanel (the original Égoïste is wonderful). I did, and it's opened a world for me
(But I still want to sample everything from Penhaligon's!)
