What's new

Its like the Holy Trinity

Today I had the trifecta...

Brand New Dovo from the superior shave - its the Dovo that was made specifically for them to sell

Brand New Queen Charlotte Soaps samples - creams and soaps - Whipped up some Cayman (Bay rum)

And a 2 Day old Tony Miller Bridle Strop

What a delite of a night time shave. The wife was gone so it was a nice long shower...a prelather on the face while i Stropped up the new blade. Whipped up some lather (this took two tries to get the lather like i like it, the soap was not as thirsty and took a bit more whipping than other soaps but well worth it)

Got a great shave, love the new razor...love the new strop...and the soaps are great, nice cushion and smooth glide.

Nice setup. There are several on his site that I drool over regularly. I am looking forward to having a day off and trying my straight.

On a related note, how are you liking the razor sleeve? I am considering buying one if that means I don't have to oil the razor before putting it up.

ive only had the sleeve for 1 day. From what i gather it is basically like what i would store my shotgun in. So i would guess it should work fine. If i was making them I would make them longer as the razor just fits in. but that is minor.

Yeah I really like the razor though. I had a Dovo Renaissance prior and also a Dovo Carre. all three basically the same blade style. I like the shoulderless taperd heel. it works good in my concave throat area.

What i like most about this razor is that is has no embellishment on the blade or scales...just plain silver.

nice set up. be sure to make the lather a bit thinner than you would for a DE
the dovo looks the goods

I actually prefer to make a thicker lather when i use my straight. But perhaps i will try out the thinner lather. What is your reasoning for this? Thanks for your help

for me with a thick lather i find it hard to keep the blade angle as it should be and i dont think that it lubricates as well as a thinner lather while using a straight.
i use quite thick lather when i have a DE shave not that often any more though. so when im having a SR shave i dont have it watery just a tad thinner than i would.

just try it and see if it helps.

that way the razor doesnt seem to ''stick'' to my face it ''glides''

I will try that on my next shave...thanks for the tip...its not gonna hurt to try, maybe i will like the thin lather.

I do always make sure i have a very wet face though also. i think sometimes we forget how important water is on the face for a good shave.

Lovely razor. I have been thinking about getting one of them, which means I will probably get one of them.

I believe another reason for the thinner lather with straights is so that it rinses off the blade more cleanly. Personally, I like a thicker lather on my face, at least for the first pass.
