What's new

It's better with a boar!

I really like to use the L'Occitane Cade shave cream at this time of the year because of how well it moisturizes - I don't need to use a balm afterward. However, I found myself having trouble getting a good lather going with my badger brush. On a whim, I pulled out my badger brush again (I had relegated it to travel duty), and pow, the cream exploded! I'm thinking that because of the shea butter in this cream it is thicker and requires a stiffer brush to really whip it into shape. Has anyone else experienced this with Cade or another cream?

" How boar-ing " LOL

I've a boar brush or two but in reserve luckily my badger seems to like anything I swirl it with.

Glad to here of your good results.
I use boar exclusively.
I have a Vulfix 403 but I prefer the Omega 10098.
I used the Mayfair awhile back and noted that it was scratchier the the 98.
It could be that the 403 is a very inexpensive badger brush or that the 98 is so well broken in.
Either way no matter what you throw at the boar it just excels.

Looks like we have another convert.

I have been thinking of getting one. Maybe in the next month or so. I have to research it though. I don't know which one I will want.

Da, though I wouldn't have chosen your way of putting it..:001_smile

If I had to reincarnate in animal form would much prefer to be a sexy boar than a nasty badger! :001_tt2:

Come on, Blake. You have so many razors and not a single BOAR brush? Shame on you! (bis) :001_tongu

I know. :blushing: In fact, I was using a Medium E&J Super Badger up until a couple of weeks ago. I finally got a Shavemac Silvertip and have been using it since. Of course, I ordered a 09 LE. :thumbup1: I am dipping my toes into SBAD, but it is considerably more expensive. However, my Shavemac tells me this must be explored because it made a huge difference.

I got a Semogue 1305 for under $21, shipped. It's a good brush -- a tad floppy -- and I'm still breaking it in. I've put about 8 shaves on it so far. The performance has been good so far, but not great.

Be patient with it. Semogues are pretty whimsical.

I'm not saying they aren't good, but I think I prefer my $9 Omega Boar to my 1305 Semogue brush. The 1305 looks cooler, though.

They are all different. Probably Vulfixes are the most user-friendly of the whole bunch: silky bristles, no nasty smell and virtually no breaking-in time.

Dipping your toes in? Come on, you pansy. All you need is nine lousy dollars to make this happen. :001_rolle
