What's new

It has the Normal Crack They All Get

I suppose it is nicer, in terms of plating loss and condition of the case. The crack, eh, that's more toward the unusable end of the spectrum.

I picked one up at an antique store in very similar condition (completely split handle), except not gold, for $12, so, i'd maybe offer $15-20 if you're interested

A crack is normal. That handle is split end to end and would be pretty much useless as a shaver.
Having said that, the rest of the razor is not in bad shape, and if you wanted it as a shaver, you could just swap out handles with a better one. But if you just want it for a shaver, there are a lot of them in better shape, for less money without the unusual case.
If it is just for display as a collector item, then just turn the handle over so the split is not shown, as it won't be important because your not shaving with it anyway.

In a nutshell, it is absolutely more than just "the crack that they all get".

+1 I see the same seller has a double ring BIN for $50 with an actual "TCTTAG" Much better investment IMO

Yeah, I've got a couple of old-style cracked handles where the cracks themselves are barely visible, but the ends are loose, and might fall out during the shave--not good at all.
This one is much worse ...

Guys, it's not TCTAG "the crack they all get" It's TNCTTAG "the NORMAL crack they all get". Which of course begs the question: what's an "abnormal" crack if this one is "normal".

I think the testimony of the posts above attest to the fact that it is not normal, and that the seller in question is pretty far off base with his claim that it is normal.

That is a terrible crack!!!!!!

..and as mentioned above, nothing normal about it, it is miles away from the barely visible end-of-handle situations where the razor is still very much functional and the aesthetic consequence is insignificant.
Describing this as "normal" is basically being dishonest.
I have an ongoing problem with the quality of this seller's pictures, they mostly appear faded, even oddly so. That aspect alone is in the way of buyers getting a real good look at the merchandise.

At least he makes no attempt to hide the problem, unlike some sellers!

Horribly split handle, great head and case. IMHO, over priced, but not if you need the other components (that case is pretty rare).

This Seller has a reputation here these days for offering high BIN, and occasionally inaccurate descriptions. But he also sometimes offers some exceptional pieces (again at very high prices), and as I understand it, in the past the pieces were nicer and prices more reasonable.

And as stated, the Double Ring referred to above is a Single, not Double Ring, and it's been up for some time (though I'm pretty sure the BIN is now lower, I've bought much nicer sets of similar type and vintage for close to the same money at auction- here is one example from 1907).
