Israeli Personna Red Blades: How many shaves??

Hey guys! I am looking for a solid blade with some longevity. How do the Israeli Personna Reds hold out for you all? Thanks for your feedback!

I got 3 good shaves out of a blade before I tossed it. They are so inexpensive, I didn't bother to test their longevity.

They are a good blade, but I think 3 good shaves will be the best you get out of one (YMMV).

It's been so long since I used an Israeli Red that I can't remember how long one lasted. My housemate (I converted him) took a shine to them to the extent that I bought 50 more for him. He likes their longevity: 1 blade = 1 shave. Of course, he can grow a beard almost at will.

I favor the U.S. Personnas and the Israeli Blues. More than once I had to rinse off the razor and examine it to see if it was loaded. The kind of smooth, sharp blade that is the Grail for most of us. And they each consistently yield at least five shaves for me.

I tried the Reds and was getting 3 shaves per blade. The shaves themselves were adequate, but for the same money they are outclassed by Gillette Bleue Extras NOS, Astra SP's and my favorite in that price bracket, the Russian yellow 7 o'clock SharpEdge which managed to clock up (pardon the pun) 9 great shaves in a Weishi of all things, It normally averages a weeks worth of shaving in the majority of my razors.

I have used them for almost a year, and get 3 (3 pass) shaves from a blade. These are my top pick!

I get 3 as well. Any more than that and the cost of using a blade starts to outweigh the cost of just grabbing a new one.

The Red pack Israeli Personna are my favourite DE razor blades, along with the Bolzano and the Shark SC. I get exactly three comfortable shaves with each blade.

Reds start pullling a bit on the second shave for me, but that is pretty typical for any blade with my wire beard. I actually like them very much.

IMO this one is sharper than Astra SP, but less sharp than Shark SS.

In sharpness they are all in the same boat more or less; fairly sharp but only just above average. I think they are (a lot) smoother than the Astra's and maybe a tad more forgiving than the other two. I don't use them very much but for me it is a typical blade to try out a new razor because of their ease of use; it takes just one shave to get to know them and they are very predictable.

I generally get 4-6, 2 pass (+ touch ups) shaves from my Personna Reds.

Reds are my favorite SS blade. I could probably squeeze 3-4 shaves out of one, but my rule for any blade is toss after two. Why risk a bad shave on a cheap blade.

Excellent point! I could get in the habit of changing blades every Sunday and Wednesday!

I get 7 shaves out of each.
I will not use a blade that won't shave me for a week.
Red Personna, Gillette Super Thin and Wikinson Sword all give me 7 good shaves.
