Well that looks like the plating is worn off a bit and there seems to be a God-Awful, Nasty, Crusty, Dried UP, Stomach Wrenching, Disease Ridden, End of Mankind, Glop in the comb!!!!:lol::lol::lol: But that could just be me looking at it upside down, half squinting with dark sun glasses on.:lol::lol::lol:

Is that an E-bay photo? If so...I can't believe that someone didn't try to clean that nasty thing up before posting.

I saw that one on Ebay. I thought about taking a chance on it for replating but then I noticed the uneven-ness when the doors are closed and as I know nothing about repairing razors, I removed it from my watch list.

adjusting them takes a little time but it involves a rag and some needle nose pliers and some bending of those side hinge things. I just fixed a fatboy the was way out of alignment.... now it shuts nice and even and tight.:thumbup1:

Nope I didn't win it but I did lay in the first bid and was the highest and only bidder until 30 mins till the end of the auction at 14.95 british pounds but then went up to about 30 pounds and it wasn't worth it to me if it was not just patena but also brassing. I thought it looked like brassing but wanted to get your guys opinion on it too.

The brassing is not repairable unless you go for a compltete replating

Sad !!!!

But keep the beauty....don't discard it.

nick....drop it in an old jar filled with lime-away or CLR ...leave in there for an hour, then wash with soap and water..you will love the look !!

How much would replating an Aristocrat cost? I imagine you'd use Rhodium, rather than Nickel.

I'm considering replating an American Aristocrat in Rhodium or Nickel.

As a sidenote, it appears that someone recently purchased a pristine British Aristocrat for 30 pounds even off of fleabay via buy it now. Caveat emptor I suppose.
