What's new

Is this normal?

I'm going through a blade sampler and all copies of the Russian 7 o'clock super stainless and Astra platinums have such large glue spots that the glue extends over the edge of the blade. The Russian glue also doesn't wash off with alcohol and hot water very well either, unlike the very small glue spots on the Egyptian blades or Japanese blades. I had to use Goo-gone. The blades are great; some of my favorites. So, my question is: Do these blades always have such intrusive glue spots? I'm ready to buy a 100 pack of blades, but don't want to have to use Goo-gone to clean up 100 blades that only give me 3-4 shaves a pop. If this glue problem is par for the course, I'll just buy Sharks or Lord plats or Crystals instead. Thanks!

The glue is one of the most annoying thing on the Russian blades. You could use the previous old blade so take off the glue on the new blade.

Be careful not to cut yourself...

Try a pack of Kai blades before you buy a boat-load of glue-infested blades. Sharper and smoother than Astras or Green Russian 7 o'clocks, and no glue whatsoever.

They are available from Aneurysm in the Vendor Corner.

You seriously should try this blade.

I like Kai blades. I just haven't been able to find a good source. Thanks for the tip on where to get them.

+1

Or try Super Iridiums, Gillette blacks, or Red IP's.

+2, I have not been unfortunate enough to have the glue extend to the edge of my blade except for once. If you are careful you can deal with it.
