is this a missmatch Contract Tech?

I´ve reveived this set. The blades are from 1942 (M2). But I thought, this plastic handle comes in the 50s. Is this a missmatch?

My impression had always been that the bakelite handles were introduced as an alternative to metal during the war. That would support your 1942 date. That also supports the use of paint instead of metal plating on the cap.

I believe Chris is right. If the blades are original to the set, then the handle makes a great deal of sense as I believe the bakelite handles were introduced to help conserve metal for the war effort back then.
