What's new

Is Pré de Provence addictive?

At least to me it is! :w00t:

I've been using the after shave balm for over a week now and every time I take a whiff I want to eat it! I've the can of soap near very centrally located in the house so I can walk past it, crack it open and have a sniff, it takes a lot of effort for me not to take a bite out of it.

I've been shaving with Tabac for the past couple of weeks and that soap smells funky! Not in a good way to me at least, I know lots of guys on this board love this smell, but not me. This morning I've decided to shave with Pré de Provence, I also used a new blade and razor combo which I've not used before, so it's hard to compare the performance. But oh, it smelled so good!!! I think I'm in love! With the scent that is...

I also think that I can't be the only one, last night I've met a girl at a random watering hole and she was sniffing my face, I thought it was quiet funny since it has never happened before. Then she proceeded to sniff and kiss my neck. Same thing happened the previous week with a different girl. Both of them like the lingering scent of the aftershave balm. Not to mention that it leaves my face and neck feeling like baby's bum! It's by far my favourite after shave with CADE, but at fraction of the price.

To help my Pré de Provence cravings I've ordered some more of their products, creams, lotions, soaps etc...

Am I alone in my addiction or are there others like me?

It sounds to me like you are going to have to ditch the Tabac and atart trying out all the French soaps you can. While I like them, SWMBO thinks they smell a bit too flowery. I think she described one as smelling like "baby ***".

PDP is good stuff. The scent is subtle, herbal and masculine. The soap is slick and lathers easily.

For me, there is nothing to dislike about it.

Personally I find the scent of Pre de Provence to be some what herbal (sage ?) and laundry like.
This can be quite appealing to some in that it hints of freshness and cleanliness.

Scent aside, the quality of the shave is very good and where as it won't knock off the three T's or the three Italians (and others) from the number one spot for protection, slickness and scent, it does excell when it comes to skin moisturizing and conditioning. ( something only the Italians can match. )

Another French soap "Institut Karite" takes France onto a level playing field with the Brits and the Italians.

IMHO.

Don't know about laundry like, but the sage might explain why I want to eat it :biggrin1:

I like to cook baked beans with sage on weekend mornings. It tastes delicious.

If you are getting those types of results with the ladies, why oh why would you even think about buying something else? If I was you, I would sock away a few years worth right now.

I have been using the Pre de Provence shaving soap pretty much everyday since early April of this year.

I must say that while I enjoy using it and it does indeed perform well, I am not totally bowled over by it.

It is a great for sure but I am wondering whether it will be replenished in my collection. I am leaning towards "probably not".

Not to say that it is not a great soap. Enjoy your bevy of Pre de Provence products.

Have you tried the balm? It is excellent.

I actually just got the ASB yesterday and used it this morning. Boy was happy that it smelled just like the soap! Reminds me of Irish Spring. Wonderful scent, performs just as well as my L'Occitan ASB (though I can't speak of Cade's performance).

Well, I have about 4 other creams, 5 Soaps which are untouched and I want to try. Not to mention lots of samples...

I think it's starting to become my favourite ASB by far. I've used CADE this morning and my face is a lot more greasy compared to PdP ASB. Also PdP isn't as thick and it's a lot easier and faster to spread it around the face.
