What's new

Is it, really?

The humble much maligned Weishi provides wonderful shaves for myself. While shaving the other morning, I mused to myself the better shave from the Weishi compared to my vintage Gillette Adjustables.

I wonder why that might be? Is it that manufacturing has improved so much over the past 50 years that even an inexpensive Superspeed knockoff will outperform the original?

We frequently entertain romantic notions of the past, and the superior quality of the items made back then. No, I would not claim the Weishi is a superior build to a Gillette. But in terms of a quality shave, I think the Weishi outperforms my Gillettes.

What say you?

Sorry, but for me there is no way the Weishi comes anywhere close to touching the shave quality of a vintage Superspeed.

I found it to be so unbelievably mild, that it is effectively useless. It's about 1/4 as aggressive as a Gillette Tech, a razor that many consider to be way too mild.

Mine also rattled like a cheap dime-store toy; not a sign of a well built quality product that will last for any length of time.

I honestly could not get a Weishi to even begin to shave my face, way too mild couldn't even tell a blade was in it, adjusted my angle every which way to no avail, not a good fit for me.:thumbdown
