Is it Custom or nor?

I remember a while back someone had asked about stamping/etching their name / logo on a GD they had customized.
At that time I voiced my opinion, which was in my opinion false advertizement / straight up fraud.
No one would thing about doing it to a vintage W&B but some think differently about a $5 GD.

I may be wrong but it looks like some has decided to do just that.
I'm not against someone customizing a $5 razor but when that start putting their name on and trying to pass it off as a "handmade custom razor"... well that's a different story.

Second I agree, you can customize it and make pretty (Seraphim) but still call it a GD, it is NOT a "MEN" razor

I wouldn't put my name on a razor, but I have thought about making a 7 day set out of Gold Dollars for myself at some point. With that in mind, I have wondered how I could put the days of the week on the tang/spine.

I agree.
I've been considering customizing a gd 66 myself mainly for a bit of fun, but at the end of the day it would still be a gd.

I also agree with doc226.. it's really ugly.

For all the ones I've done I wouldn't call them a custom razor. Customized maybe. But somebody somewhere will fall prey to them ( on ebay ) without knowing. Thinking they're getting a custom built razor for that.
And granted, for the time I put in mine nobody in their right mind would want to buy them unless I priced them at a rate of 2-3 dollars an hour. Hence, I don't offer them for sale.

The way it was modified, the underlying shape and just knowing GDs says that's all it can be. Sorta like saying how did you know it was a Pinto?

One thing is that I know razors and I know custom razors. I know how they are made and I know that's a not a custom made razor
It's one of a few different things.
Either it's a modified existing Chinese or Pakistan razor or there is a slight chance it's a unfinished blank that he is finishing (unlikely)

What makes you think it's not?

I just measured it again to make sure, GD 66 are 6/8.
I was told the other model had similar form factor.
So either he is deceptive about dimensions or it is not GD based.

As for the styling. Not for me either. A shame as it looks like a lot of work went into it.

I kind of fall back to what my grandmother would tell me "2 wrongs don't make a right"
