What's new

Is it all in my head?

I only seem to cut or nick myself if I don't have the styptic pencil laying on the counter. If I forget to get it out of the drawer when I'm settng out my shave gear I should just put my stuff away and try again later. Does this happen to anyone else?

You're looking at this the wrong way - you've found the easiest way known to man to avoid nicking yourself!

I think we should call up mythbusters. This reminds me of the myth about toast always landing butter-side down. Perhaps you've created some sort of self-fulfilling prophecy; subconsciously you intentionally nick yourself when you don't have the styptic around. Freud would probably have a heyday with this one.

I guess I created my own superstition, but just for me. I guess I just make sure I have it out and ready to go that way I never need it.

You're probably subconsciously trying too hard not to nick yourself and in consequence doing just that? Are you with me?

Just take it easy and remember the Remember the Wetshavers Mantra. Go Slow, Proper Angle and NO PRESSURE.

It's very rare that my Alum Block ever comes off the shelf these days.
