What's new

Irritated... received wrong blades

Well I placed an order with a vendor for a bulk pack of Israeli "Red Pack" Personnas to try out with my Merkur 38C. I've been using Merkur blades, and the 2 I've used thus far seemed to be doing well, but I wanted to "see what all the fuss was about" with the Personnas. Well I was excited today, I got my package in the mail and opened it up, and low and behold... I got a bulk pack of Dorco 300ST instead???:mad5:

So now I'll be leaving out of town this week on Thursday, and I'll still be using Merkurs, dangit!

I'm sure that the vendor will get things squared away with me, but its just quite frustrating to expect one thing and then get another, plus the hassle of returning an item, and then waiting for the new one to arrive.

That's frustrating when you are not getting what you paid for. If you haven't tried the dorco, I think you should.

After reading the reviews here on the Dorco, I think I'll save my face. Most seemed to rate it as the worst shaving experience.

gone down south

I was more irritated after trying to shave with Dorcos.

Bah-dum-bump!

No point in using the Dorcos if you wanted the RPIP. Those are good blades and worth waiting for. Hope it gets straightened out soon.

Thats the first time I've heard that term, "squared away" outside of my family in a few years.
Military background?

Depends. I tried the 300 and 301 and they were all right for me. I wouldn't have a problem using them daily. Astra last longer and is a bit smoother but Dorco were good. Worse shave I had was with Shogun (those were below Merkur)...

No, I do not, but my family had many vets. All of my Grandfathers and Great Grandfathers served. In addition to some great uncles.

Well I was at my Barber shop, The Executive Forum, yesterday, for a haircut, and wouldn't you know it, he sells Red Personnas. So I picked up a 5 pk for myself, and will be using one for my next shave.

The order with the vendor, West Coast Shaving was fixed, and he told me to keep the Dorcos as a gift. I, in turn, posted a giveaway in the BST forum.

As a side note, The Executive Forum, is one of very few barber shops in Des Moines that are willing OR able to cut a proper vintage style pompadour. Scott, gives a GREAT cut too, very impressed with his service, and his barber shop. I think he also does an excellent straight shave.
