Iron Souplex razor?

I have acquired a Souplex razor, it's an open comb type and when I got it, it was rust coloured (brownish/reddish).

After polish it came out as the pictures show.

Now here is my questions:
Is the handle made out of (cast)iron?
Has it been plated at some point?

It is obvious that the head pieces are plated, and I find it interesting that the handle is so different.

That handle doesn't match any Souplex, Or Big Ben (another name it was manufactured under), I have ever seen. The neck apears to be way to narrow to match the head impression. It appears to be a mismatch.

I think you are right. After a closer look, the comb-plate (?) looks as if a wider handle has been screwed on.
The handle and the top-plate looks alike though.

Well, it wasn't a collector's item anyway, as long it gives a decent shave I don't mind.
