Irish Moos a rarety?

Since all you nice people have helped me over the months with feeding my addictions i thought i'd return the favor :001_tt2:

From what i understand, Irish Moos is pretty hard to get there in the states. Here on the other hand it's pretty easy to get and relativly cheap (6.60 euro/stick)

Would there be any intrest in me shipping like 10 sticks to one of you so you can re-send it within the states.

(even with the double shipping i doubt it would be much more expensive then the online stores in the US)

Just to be clear: i am in no way trying to make a profit, just to see if i can help people.

Hi Denko. It's a lovely and generous idea, but it classifies as a group buy, and as such must be run through the mod team. Give it some time and some more posts under your belt, then shoot me a quick PM and I'll run it by the team. Thanks again for your efforts to help!

Ah, ok, understood.

No problem, will try again in a few, just seemed like it might be handy scince i can drive like 5 mins and pick up a wheelbarrel full of the stuff.

There will be interest in this.

A Stick of IM can ship first class CONUS for about 1.80 USD.

6.80 euros is about 10 USD.

So the wildcard is the cross-the-pond shipping for 10 sticks.

Monsavon Bol A Raser is also hard to locate here, and is rumored to be inexpensive in the EU as well. A puck of this weighs similar to a stick of IM.

A member here was selling 2 pucks of that shipped from France for 20.00 USD and 3 for 28.00 (I believe). My understanding was most of this cost was in the shipping, though that member shipped everything per member, not all at once to a stateside 'redistributor' as you're suggesting.

EDIT: my prices mentioned here are off - cfriend was good enough to straighten me out (see below).

That was Cookie_Junkie. If we did something similar for Irisch Moos I'd probably be in for a stick or five. This is the original Monsavon thread:

Hi everyone,

Hear ye, hear ye tallow lovers and soft soap fans!!
Here for sale are a few tubs of Monsavon – Bol à raser, the French tallowy goodness with a Lavander/Citrusy smell of its own.
This one is a little wonder, period.

Of course, each soap comes brand new, unopened, 100% full (that is 125g/4.4oz) and still wrapped; all you can dream of...

So it goes:
1=> 10$ shipped
2=> 16$ shipped
3=> 20$ shipped

Paypal only.
Shoot your PM gents, first come, first served...

I was able to take advantage of the generosity of Cookie_Junkie's offer to send Monsavon to us in the states. Unfortunately, I will not be able to take advantage of this offer since I bought a couple sticks just before Christmas when Superlather had some available. Thank you very much for the offer and for those that have not tried IM, you owe it to yourself to give it a try!!

The SIM soap is on sale in Germany (a drugstore chain called DM to be more specifically). Price 1.65€ which is equivalent to 2.30 $.

Stocks are limited. Maybe I'll hoard some of that stuff...

monsavon is 1,80€ in france it is reputed to be a nice soap but to damage the brush (makes your brush loose hairs ,i've ear this on french shaving forums not experienced myself),so use
a cheap brush with him ,a boar or a syntetic .+ that's a good reason to have anther brush :001_smile

I wonder if I can get time off to visit Deutschland...

Great gesture, but i am able to buy it within driving distance from me in LA. And btw the lady who runs the store is willing to ship them to whomever is interested (limit 2 per customer) www.alpinevillagecosmetics.com

You know, now that you posted that, there's going to be a run on the store. By this time tomorrow, they will have been over-run by seekers of IM, and there will be a pile of bodies marking where the display was.:lol:

(At least I know that there is a second source in the USA now! Ima gonna wait a month or two, until the furor dies down.)

Actually, I'm going down there tomorrow. I have a few errands to run in the vicinity and planning to drop in for the Irisch Moos, Speick and Tabac. I think Angel City Brewing is also at Alpine Village - also worthy of a visit!

What does alpinevillagecosmetics charge? I don't see any pricing on their website.

Here's the quote I got when emailing them-

Thanks for your inquiry concerning the Irisch Moos Shaving Soap Sticks.

We currently have a small supply in stock, and we do accept and process mail order requests.

Retail price is $15.95 for a 3.5 oz (100g) shaving stick (plus tax for California residents only). Shipping is usually done by either UPS or U.S. Postal Service and cost is determined by the mailing address and weight of package.

Orders can be called in to our store during normal business hours (11:00AM – 5:30PM Tues – Sun, closed Mon) or sent by return e-mail. We need a mailing address and valid credit card information to be able to process the order and ship the merchandise.

If we can be of any assistance, please contact us at your convenience.

I was just in Alpine Cosmetics and bought 3 sticks of IM yesterday. I'm moving out of state soon and wont be able to pick anything up like that locally for years to come most likely. I bought all the IM sticks she had in stock. I also got a couple Speick sticks and a tube of Palmolive. She wasn't sure when another shipment of IM would arrive.

Did you happen to call her Craig? she said someone from New York had called her and was complaining about prices lol. She had em priced at around $17 and some change (after tax) which is very reasonable for a soap rarely seen outside of Germany.

She was very very sweet and was very helpful. I'm going back next week to pick up some more things. She has the entire Tabac line, Speick line, as well as Palmolive and Nivea shave cream tubes. There were also a few other brands of shave cream I had never seen before. I'll pick those up next week and post up some info.

I would say its one of the best places locally to pick up Speick and Tabac, as well as those euro creams we all love like Palmolive. Oh U! beauty is good for the Trumpers and Musgo items. I like Alpine Cosmetics the best imho. I love the Alpine Village area, so maybe my opinion is biased. She really wants the business and isn't gouging us with high prices.

While I was looking around she would be like "Is our selection good? I don't shave my face so I'm not sure" lol. I reassured her she had a great selection and very competitive pricing to what is online. She also had some decent German badger brushes and stands that ran about $40 for a brush and $10 for a stand. So go in and meet Eleanor, very nice lady and very helpful.

Also, eat at the Alpine Inn. Had some great Sauerbraten and a few too many glasses of Spaten :D Just like my Oma used to make

My gf had to drive home haha :bored:
