What's new

Irisch Moos

I really wanted to hate this soap since it's so difficult to come by but some things just don't work out the way you want them to.

I lucked into buying a new stick of Moos on the b/s/t for $17.00 shipped and had intentions of trying it once and then passing it on to my girlfriend's step dad who I got hooked on Tabac this past Thanksgiving. Not only is he hooked on Tabac but he uses Irish Spring bath soap every day so I know he is going to love this stuff. Anyway, I loved it so much myself that I ended up cutting the stick in half, milled my half into a small tupperware container and will still gift him the other half of the stick (sometime soon I promise :w00t:).

The scent was better in person than I had imagined from reading descriptions. The lather was identical to tabac and left my face feeling like it barely needed any aftershave.

Anyway, if you happen to run into the Moos on your online or real life adventures you owe it to yourself to give it a try. I am now going to be hunting this stuff down like there's no tomorrow. I've only used it twice now and am scared of running out

Funny how impressions vary. I used my stick once & promptly got rid of it. Couldn't stand the smell (altho it did shave very well). I can't stand the smell of Irish Spring either and to me this smelled exactly like Irish Spring.

Sorry, not to threadjack but is superlather the only online source to stock Irish Moos? They seem to be out right now.

I prefer the scent of IM over Tabac but they both leave my skin drier than I would really like.

The only reason they stay in my rotation is because they are such easy latherers.

But neither of them is in my top 5 anymore; actually they are having a hard time staying in my top 10....

Trade your IM? :wink2:

Exactly how I felt about IM... at first I thought the smell was pretty strong but in use it's heavenly...

IM is good, but it is not the same as Tabac. Many have said it is the same soap since it comes from the same parent company, but these are different.

Great performing soap with a little less strong scent than it's sister, Tabac. Wish it was easier to come by in the states.

My IM finally arrived yesterday, and I first used it today. Faced lathered the stick and I must say this soap makes a very thick and cushiony lather in a hurry. No problem there. The scent is a bit strong when you sniff the stick, but in use it tones down quite a bit while shaving. First impression is that it is all everyone says about quality. Haven't decided where I stand on the scent. To each his own on that category. So far I am quite impressed.

Sooooo.....what's in your top 5?

In random order there are Arko, Cella, P.160, Palmolive and Vulfix.
Somehow Speick should fit in there too.

As you can see they are all affordable soaps, nothing super luxurious or fancy, just like Tabac/IM in fact.

To me IM smells like Irish Spring soap. Mine was very strong at first and almost off putting but I have grown very fond of the scent. It face lathers like no other; well, except maybe for Speick. For me IM is a great soap, I now prefer the IM scent over Tabac.

Is the IM scent comparable to any other product so those of us who haven't tried IM can get an idea?

I will say this - I understand now that Moos was designed to use as a stick.

It maybe the only stick product that really works as advertised (and is not just a puck repackaged). It makes crazy lather on the face after you rub the stick on. Point is, I think it works best/richer lather when used as a stick
