Iridium super equivalent

Hello Gents,
Iridiums are getting harder to find. It makes sense since they are my favorite blades these days. What other blades are similar to iridiums? Sharp yet smooth.

In my rotation, the Iridiums fall halfway between AstraSP and Feather ... go with the Astra if you want Smoother, lean towards the Feather if you want Sharper.

If you're still undecided, go with the AstraSP. You don't say what razor you're using, and that matters. The Feather is monogomously mated with my 39C Slant ... the Astra is much more of a universal blade, and pairs up well with every razor I've tried it in.

DANG IT, every time I find something that works well for me they discontinue it.:mad3: I have found that Shark's work for me, though not quite as sharp and smooth as the Iridiums.

I have been on this quest as well. I have tried Astras and they seem to feel a bit rough. I actually get some weepers with them. I highly recommend Voskhod Blades. I purchased some Russian Creams from a vendor in Latvia, they kindly sent me a sample of these Russian Made blades coated with Teflon. I was so impressed I ordered up 100 of them. and will be ordering another 100 in a few weeks.

The blades are smooth on my Futur and 89l.

Other Blades I like are Yellows, Iridiums, Feathers, and now Voskhod.

I cannot tell the difference between Iridiums and the Gillette 7 o'clock yellows. From what I understand, they're made in the same factory.

They are made in the same factory however, there is a very tiny difference. IS's work great in my 1904 but I have to use Yellows in my NEW. but then again too I ran into the problem with IS's in my NEW when I got to cold weather so maybe I need to revisit. Either way I can live with that right now makes the stash of IS's I have last longer!

Try Permasharp blades(golden box). They are made by Gillette St. Pete's for the Turkish market.
You can find them at shaving.ie!
A bit expensive, but try a pack. They are very similar to Iridiums!

Iridiums' stablemates from St. Petersburg include the Gillette Yellows and Astra Super Plats. These compare favorably and are worth sampling, IMO.

I just picked up 100 Astra SP blades for 14.50 on the bay. I'll let you know how they work out. As always I appreciate your collective advice.
