Iridium-First shave

Had my first shave with an Iridium blade today. Excellent blade. To date, the best combination of sharp and comfortable that I have used. Too bad I only bought a 10 pack to try.:cursing:

Iridium is one of my fav also. If you haven't tried Astra SP's I would give them a try as well. I find the 2 to be very similar.

I've been using my one and only Iridium blade (given to me) for three days in my Slant...great blade. Just pricey.

Yes, it is pricey, especially compared to Astra platinum which I can get for about 1/2 as much. The best price I have seen for the Iridium is $34.00 per hundred. Anyone seen them for less?

If you buy in bulk (250 or so) from across the pond, you can get them for about $0.25 each including shipping. The Iridium is my favorite blade, but the Astra SP is a very close second. I find the Astra slightly smoother, the Iridium slightly sharper. Others find just the opposite (go figure). The Iridium also seems to have a slight edge in longevity, but not enough to justify the price difference. In bulk, the Astras can be had for around $0.09 per blade, a price difference that's tough to ignore.

Super Iridium are excellent blades. Very sharp and smooth to use. They are not as forgiving as less sharp blades, such as Derbys, but are more forgiving than Feathers.

Well, look on the bright side:
You've got about 1-2 months right there. Plenty of time to decide if you want to get more, or how many more.

Anecdote: I've been spending my shaves on Timor blades, lately, and just to make sure that I did not "slip", I took all the Iridium Supers and Gillette Bleue Extras out of my dopp, out of my shave den, and out of the downstairs bath. The Iridiums are that good. Definitely a top-5 blade for me.

For me the Iridiums are sharpest, the Astras smoothest, and the Israeli Red Personnas the best middle ground I've found. And, the Reds don't have those irritating glue spots. If I could only have any one of the three I wouldn't feel deprived in the least.

A ten pack is plenty for now. You should be able to shave for a few weeks on that. If you're sold on them, go ahead and order some more. The Iridium is one of my favorites.

You actually did a good thing getting only a 10 pack. If you didn't like them, you most likely felt bad now..
There is always time to get them in bulk.

They are my favorite blades! Sharp, very smooth, and they last more than any blade I tried. worth every cent!

It has been reported they suspended production of them and to be honest I will not miss them.

So far I have tried the
Super Iridium
Merkur
Wilkison (germany)
7 O'clock (russian)
Derby

And find I like the Derbys best for a sharp close smooth shave

You find Derbies the best? No accounting for taste...you must have a much lighter beard than your avatar, though!
