What's new

Interesting article on teen/pre-teen boys' increased use of grooming products

My wife and daughter were reading this out loud today, glancing at me and cackling. Have you ever heard two women cackle? It's not pleasant.

Oh my... the memory of that has put me off my coffee. And NOTHING comes between me and my coffee...

Time to plan tomorrow's shave!

This may not be new thing, historically at least. I think it is safe to say down through the ages that young men have wished to attract young ladies in any way they can. The only things I see as different this time versus the past, are the plethora of things available and the amount of cash by teens to acquire them. Looks like otherwise not much is new under the sun.

It's one thing to laugh at the ADs of adults here on B&B, it's another to see advertisers foster them in children.

Childhood itself is becoming outmoded. We allow our kids to become "little adults" and rob them of childhood. Too bad.

Very True.

I noticed twice in the article, it was mentioned Principals confiscated spray cans. :confused1

I'm a teacher and have confiscated cans of Axe on numerous occasions. The stuff reeks. Of course, when we hit the road (I'm a high school band director), I prohibit the girls from using hairspray, etc. on the bus. Too many kids with allergies and asthma.

I would be fine with making my middle schoolers pass under a cattle sprayer of deoderant on their way into the school every day. It would make my band room smell much better! :001_unsur

Why don't you just get a bottle of Pinaud Lilac Vegetal and use it as a communal bottle?

That's not too far from the truth. I know fellow teachers and school counselors who have "hygiene kits" for needy or unkempt students.

When I was a teen many years ago we all used to bath in Brut! I could smell someone wearing that stuff when they entered a hall!

The smell of Brut makes me gag these days.

Nothing changes, just the smell!

When I was in high school, all the boys would cover themselves in Lynx deodorant - after sport, in class, at lunch.

Ironically, all it did was irritate the girls...:001_rolle
