Ink Storage

Greetings from Mendel!

Let's talk ink bottle storage.

Do you keep your bottles in their original cardboard packaging? Where do you store several bottles of ink? Do you use nice containers to hold them all? Do you have any pictures you can share with ideas?

Here's an older pic (2 years ago?) of some inks I had in rotation at the time. Others are in drawers. I'm not a big anti-UV proponent, they don't sit in direct sunlight, and I've not experienced any ill-effects yet. I made the little shelf on the left, the other was a $2 flea market find. Not too attractive but it's just my den.

I only have a few bottles. I keep them in the original box, stacked in a shoe box with other misc. pen supplies.

I never got around to actually using it, but this is a depression glass perfume bottle I found. A Parker 51 fits down the neck perfectly. I thought it would look quite nice on a desk full of ink.

I keep my ink inside its cardboard boxes, and those are kept inside my sherman tank.

(take that, Nemo!)

My storage is very scientific. All of the bottles are on the left hand side of my desk in the middle drawer. Fast and easy access. I throw the boxes away. This lets me stuff more bottles in the drawer.

Nothing fancy. I only have one vintage bottle & box, all new stuff the box is tossed. Picked up the shelf for a few bucks at a flea market, I think it is actually a Pakistan repro.

Original boxes stored in bubble wrap lined, flat rectangular cardboard boxes that Jetpens used to ship a couple of orders. One for all of the Noodler's inks & a couple of samples, another for everything else (Iros, Pelikans, KWZI, Herbin, Diamine, more sample vials).

Leave them in their boxes if they came with them. I have a Banker's Box laying on its side I use as a shelf for a couple of things and ink goes on top. Sample vials in vial holders on top. One is actually on top of several of my ink bottles. I need to figure out something better though, but just haven't got around to it. I'm running out of space!
