Information Request

Hello, this is my first post. I need some information this Razor. I believe it is from 1906. It's an old Gillette. Serial Number C649383. Double Ring on bottom of the inner tube. Sorry I don't know the proper terms. I'm new to the world of safety razors. What is the best way of cleaning it? Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the forum, but just so you know, this site is not an appraisal site, and posting asking for values is frowned upon. The response most people will tell you is this, followed by it is worth whatever you or someone else is willing to pay. If you really want to know, they may then suggest that you check out the bay to see what similar razors have recently sold for. Sorry I could not offer more help, but good luck with your search!

Welcome to B&B. The razor is a silver plated "Single Ring" The serial number on the shaft or under the head, that will tell you the date by cross referencing the Gillette Dating page found here.

The best method of cleaning is the Baking Soda and aluminum foil method, found here.

You can not sell on Badger and Blade until you have been a member for 45 days and have 50 post, ebay is your best bet, search completed auctions to get an idea what it is worth.

Better yet, go to the Dollar Store and pick up a pack of DE blades and try it out. :001_smile

Some info.

It's a Gillette 'Single Ring' it gets the name from the single bump/ring at the top of the handle.

The serial shows it's from 1915.

It's silver plated so you can remove the tarnish if you want to with baking soda some foil and boiling water, then a light polish.

Here is a before and after i cleaned mine up.

Before <---> After
