Information on Thater brushes

Hello,

I was hoping to gather some information on a particular Thater brush. I am currently considering the possibility of buying the Thater 4125/3 Black Silver Tip Bulb 2 Band. Does anyone out there have experience with these brushes (or this one in particular)? Also, how do these brushes compare to Simpson and other reputable brands like Kent?

Thanks for the help!

I have a 4125/0 2 band fan. It has the softest tips of any brush I have used and has what I would call moderate backbone. I have read the bulb knot, like the one you are considering, has a little more backbone due to the shape of the knot.

I have a number of Simpson brushes, all in "Best" grade hair. These brushes now seem quite scritchy when compared to the Thater.

Overall I would describe the Thater knot as having very luxurious tips- all soft-absolutely no scritch or scrub at all. It is like lathering with a cloud. And again, the bulb shape knot is rumored to have more backbone than the fan shaped knot.

Lastly, I see you are located in Tennessee. So am I. Go Vols!

The 4125 brushes from Thater are beautiful brushes.... especially the two band bulbs. I have a 4125/2 two band bulb. I held a 4125/3 at the shave shop where I bought the size 2. My impression of the 4125/3 was that the handle was too big, but that the knot was a more ideal size being a bulb shape. I have big hands, and while I didn't lather with it, the 4125/3 handle just seemed huge. The 4125/2 two band bulb has plenty of backbone, incredibly soft tips, and great flow through since it is not overly dense at all. The Thater bulbs are VERY bulbous shaped.... there's not mistaking that it is a bulb knot. The Thater brushes are not as dense as a Rooney Stubby two band or a Simpson Chubby. They are more similar in density to a Simpson Duke two band or a Morris & Forndran of comparable size.
