Incapable Vendors

This thread is about how some vendors just don't understand or cut corners when it comes to shipping an order properly. These incapable vendors don't necessarily sell shaving products, I have had it happen with a vendor who sells resin casting supplies, etc... it just so happened that this happened most recently with a vendor who sells shaving products. Generally speaking when one orders a product we are given then option to have the order shipped to an address that is different than our billing address, unless it is explicitly stated that the addresses must be the same. This option is very nice when one lives away at school but still has their mail sent to their home address, like me. However I have recently experienced vendors who are just incapable of shipping an order properly, in this example my shaving soaps and brush are being shipped to my home address when I specified a different shipping address. Its just so frustrating :mad3: when you know that you didn't screw up but someone did because they didn't take the time to double check the details before they shipped the order. Now I must drive over 100km just to get my supplies that I paid to be shipped to me... Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do? Should I request compensation?

Just had to let this rant out as it has been building since this happened to me the first time, albeit with a different company, but come on how hard is it to ship my order to the address I specify?:glare:

It's a pain, but it may also be due to the software the vendor is running - if it made a mistake, it could have told him to ship to the billing address.

Unfortunate that has happened. I would think you have an email receipt to prove your case? Right?

So if you decide to drive to p/u your stuff, is it cheaper than having it mailed to you? Just saying, how much is your time worth?

I do have an invoice showing the correct shipping address. When I talked to the vendor about the situation they promptly apologized and we worked out a deal to have half the value of my order given to me in store credit which I used to pickup a variety of creams and soaps, the rest of my stuff I will have to pick up at my billing address. I would say that its worth my time to go pick up my stuff considering that I will now have a very large variety of soaps and creams to choose from now. Just frustrating that is all, being a web design/developer myself I understand that mistakes can and do happen, I am just happy now that the vendor dealt with the situation the way they did. I guess I'm driving to Toronto this weekend.

I am really starting to catch the wet shaving bug hahaha, my bathroom cupboard is going to be overflowing with shaving products.

I spent the past four months trying to get a book that I had ordered from a vendor on eBay and just couldn't seem to get delivered. Initially they had overlooked my order, then the order never came. I am pretty patient, so I only checked in once a month, but I finally started to lose it a little and insisted that they FedEx my order. They shipped it express post instead, and I did receive it, but it was certainly not in the "New" condition that they had listed it as. As it happened, a second copy arrived shortly after (presumably one that had been lost in transit) and this one was in better shape, although still nowhere near "New" condition. I still couldn't bring myself to post a negative review on eBay, so I think I'll just let it go. But it is frustrating since I have to be careful to take care of my customers, and feel guilty whenever there is a problem.

A lot of online vendors and especially eBay sellers tend to be super lazy. I've had small products delivered in boxes that were 5x too big, so the product(s) rattled around inside. And that's a waste of extra postage. They should have an assortment of varying sizes of boxes. I buy and sell stuff on ebay, so I reuse a lot of packing materials that I get -- padded mailers, peanut pack, bubble wrap, foam, boxes. Then it's free. And large vendors can buy in bulk and save money that way.

I recently bought a Nintendo Wii off eBay, and the person had simply sat it in a box with absolutely no packing materials at all. They should've put some peanuts down in the bottom of the box, and then wrapped the main unit in bubble wrap and then put peanuts around the unit and on top.

I ordered a bunch of CD's from someone on Amazon and they sent it in a paper-thin 'cardboard' envelope. It was like you take a piece of cardboard..rip it in half them shoehorn the CDs in between the paper-thin pieces then glue it shut.
Every CD case had a crack in it.
I tried to change my initial feedback of the seller but Amazon wouldn't let me.
