In Praise of Palmolive Shave Stick

getting a clean comfortable shave with this great Soap -- all for the princely sum of 0.65 Euro. After a prewash in the shower with Real Shaving Co. Scrub face lathering with this soap with great results -- soaking the tip of the soap and brush in hot water while showering. Used this when I first started DE shaving and wasn't totally convinced and moved onto Proraso Sensitive and Body Shop Macca Root Cream .. after a revisit this is a great Shave Product for a 10th of the price of the Body Shop Cream. --

I have my Palmolive stick set out for tomorrows shave. I enjoy it every time I use it. Great stuff

It is, indeed, a wondrous thing. One of the great bargains in shaving. If only they made it in a puck as well.....

I've been playing with some pretty good soaps recently (MW, MWF, DR Harris). Used Palmolive last night and by comparison it lathers so well and easily! It's my go to soap when I don't want to argue and just want an easy shave.

Join the cult.

That's the only problem with it, it needs to be grated or somehow reformed to a sensible shape... I actually (with difficulty) just squashed it into a more puck shape... but next time I may try grating, it was quite hard, not arko-soft... :001_rolle

I wonder why they don't make it as a regular soap rather than just a stick? I hate grating it but love the soap.

I always have one around for when I travel. The stick is perfect for tossing into the Dopp kit...... luckily there are enough good soaps out there which are available in puck form.

It's a great no-fuss soap and I think that's the answer. Cheap, simple packaging, only a basic stand to hold the stick upright, etc. It's designed to be taken on a trip abroad and doesn't matter if you forget it in the hotel!!

The Palmolive stick is a fantastic product, it punches well above its weight. This is definitely one that will be getting replaced when it's gone.

I love it too, I took 2 sticks and grated them into a bowl, and just prefer it that way, but have a couple on stand by for travel as well. For the price and performance you just cant beat it.

I have shied away from buying this for months due to my insane reasoning that something that cheap must be rubbish. How wrong was I?!
I've only used it once this morning and, never having used a stick and not really knowing what I was doing, I got it all wrong. I wet my face and attempted to rub the dry stick on my face. I was having to rub so hard I thought I was going to end up pushing all the hairs back into my face! Anyway, I managed to get a good amount of soap on before going at it with the brush. A few dips in water and the lather exploded on my face into what must be the slickest substance known to man. After a few strokes with the DE, I realised I hadn't added enough water as there was still a layer of soap on my face under the lather. More water - even more lather - and still soap on my face. I think the small amount I had on my face could have gone on producing lather all day.
I'm gobsmacked about how good this is and slightly concerned about what to do with all these almost redundant expensive creams/soaps I own......

It is an amazing value for the price, I have started grating mine into a bowl to use since it is easier to use that way.

I've just used mine to take down a three-day beard and, as usual, it performed brilliantly. I am seriously considering hoarding this stuff, I have much more expensive soaps that don't perform this well!

One of the best, for sure! The scent really brings back my childhood days as my folks always had a bar of green Palmolive hand soap on the sink in the basement.
