What's new

impending soap purchase

I'm in dire need of replenishing my cold months soaps and thought I would ask for some recommendations. I really like artisan soaps. I like the whole idea of supporting the little guy. I want 2 pucks 1 bay rum and one other warm scent. I was going to just place an order with mundus on etsy because I love Jennifer's product but thought I might see what's out there. So what do you guys think? What should I try? Also on a related note what does barbershop scents smell like. I'm 26 and I don't believe I've ever been to the type of barber shop people say the scent reminds them of lol. Thanks for the help!

One of my favorite soaps for cold weather is RazoRock King Louis, which has a lavender scent. I find the scent to be warming. Also, the soap contains lanolin, which my skin finds helpful in cold, dry conditions.

I've been eyeing razorock for a minute now but with so many choices I get lost. I saw a thread recently showing what the different lines are. LA's bay rum sounds good but I'm not sure about non tallow soaps. Ive only ever used tallow soaps (as far as I know anyways). One other artisan brand I have been eyeing is Barrister and Mann. Their scent descriptions sound awesome and I've read some pretty good reviews so far. On the same note I haven't read too many bad artisan soap reviews lately. Everyone is on point!

I say try some of the Stirling Soaps. I received a sample of Rod's new Bay Rum soap today and the fragrance is great and it produced the same great lather his soaps are becoming famous for here on B & B. Not to mention Rod's customer service is great and he has been very quick responding to any questions I've had about his products. If you like the smell of black licorice his Anise soap is outstanding. Stirling also has a Barbershop scent and I don't know exactly how to describe it, but I really like it, in fact there was a puck of it in the order I received today as well.

I think that you shouldn't worry about whether or not something has tallow. The current version of Williams has tallow, and it is one of the most lampooned soaps. Martin de Candre is tallow-free, and is one of the most revered soaps. There are many highly-rated soaps (including I Coloniali, Klar, Institut Karite, Valobra soft soap, La Toja stick, and King Louis) that are tallow-free.

Barrister & Mann makes really fantastic soaps. They are one of the newer artisan soap makers but I'm incredibly impressed with their product. Reasonably priced, with fast shipping too.

Unacceptably Lasering Chicken Giblets?

Go to the website and read the descriptions of his soaps. You will be hooked.

I have tried Mikes, B&M, and LA Shaving (out of the newer artisan soap makers). I have some Panna on the way. So far, all three have been excellent...I've really been impressed with the artisan soap makers that have popped up in the last couple of years...I'm turning away from my normal Tallow based soaps and using these more and more lately...
