What's new

I'm probably gonna regret this.

My wife has informed me that our small family will be making a trip to Markham, ON, Canada in October. We'll be visiting my eldest brother and his family. Apparently that's somewhat close to the suburbs were a few of our refrigerator-decorating friends dwell.

Discuss.

Yup, you would be in close proximity to both Rockviper Sam, and myself, Rider4Life Matt isnt that far off, and there are a few others around as well

you sir, are doomed, just sayin

On a positive note, my wife thinks it's strange how much time I spend on a forum befriending strangers whom I've never met. She will think it far stranger that we'll be within spitting distance of 4 of of them.

Yup, former Markhamer here...moved to Maple (a few km's away). If you have kids, you'll probably be paying a visit to Maple to go to Canada's Wonderland (amusement park). Not sure off hand what you'll find in Markham in the way of bricks and mortar shave selection, but Proraso practically grows in the wild up here. You can find it at pretty much any store. I bought my first tube at the tobacconist in Unionville, which is a quaint little village tucked inside Markham, and will no doubt be one of your destinations while you are here. We pretty much always brought visitors there for an afternoon walk around. Even if they were just urban tourists up from Toronto and visiting us suburban folks.

Cheers,
Rob

Anything I buy will have to be able to make it through customs on the road. We'll be flying into and out of Buffalo. Way cheaper.

Surprise them all by breaking out into song and singing their Provincial National Anthem.

They'll all think you are strange if you actually start spitting. Then they'll just give you the ol' Gordie Howe Hat Trick.

Just sayin'.

I may give him the hat trick just to make sure he gets the full canadian experience, Make sure we finish off with a coffee and donut from timmies and some aqua velva original sport

You're saying I should do that to make my trip through customs smoother?

Had to google that one. I'm sure most of our brethren here in the Nib are above that level of juvenile behavior. Although, we're talking about Canadians here. That's like a whole different country.

On the other hand, I think most of my friends here would be to worried a pen would fall out of a pocket and suffer damage.

I understand the other one but how do you accomplish the goal and assist in the real world? :tongue_sm

My assumption is that they would beat me, assist me to my car, then either steal my car, or take me to Tim Horton's.... not exactly clear on the last part.

Jessy:

How hard would it be to take some beignets with you and enable them ?

Well, I'm sure I'm gonna bring some box mixes for my brother (Zatarains, Tony Chachere seasoning, etc). I might could slip a few boxes of Cafe du Mond beignette mix in my luggage as well. Granted, it's just not the same as fresh from CdM or Morning Call. But you do what you can.

In other news, that's actually a great idea for the Take a couple, Give a few box....

Goal=buy a pen. Assist=enable someone to buy a pen.

I think James has done that a few times over, I guess the beat down is the only thing left. :)

:lol::lol:

You beat me to it! Took the words right out of my mouth.

Although it should go more like this:

Assist: Buy/PIF someone a pen
Goal: Enable someone to buy their own pen(s)
Beat down: Meet with someone over coffee/donuts and sample all pens.

after reading through about the first dozen post or so I realized that the internal voice in my head had a Canadian accent...knowing this made the rest of the post even more interesting to read...
