I've heard great things about the cooling effect of Osage Rub. Does anyone else have any good face-freezers that they enjoy using? Also, where would one find menthol crystals? Do they seem to be an online-only item or can one pick them up at a B&M store?

You could look for the crystals in Indian food stores perhaps. Its an excellent idea making your own ice lotion. You can add it to your favorite AS and also control the menthol kick.
I like to use Osage Rub pretty liberally... then after the cooling goes down a bit, I take a handfull of Aqua Velva Ice Sport.

also, the shave den has about 30 different scents of custom after shaves that you order samples of and select no, mild, strong menthol options. i have the mild menthol version of the barber shop scent and it provides a strong (though less than osage) cooling sensation. i suspect their strong menthol opition is very chilly.

I'm going to have to check out the M Bomb as well as their strong menthol AS. I rediscovered menthol a couple weeks ago when I found a travel-size bottle of AV Ice Sport. I think I may have developed a Menthol AD!! 
you can get the menthol crystals from amazon or ebay.
Consider using an ice-cube after your warm-water rinse and before you put on any ASL or ASB.
I've done this a few times during the Dog Days of Summer, and the effect is just what you'd expect.
If you're looking for a face-freezer, this is the way to do it.
I found that while the ice-cube felt great when I rubbed it on my face after the shave,
it tended to get too cold in my hand while I was holding it.
So use a towel or something to hold the cube so you don't come in direct contact with your hands.

I just got some Osage Rub and some menthol drops, and WOW. It was like shaving with Vick's VapoRub, it actually made my eyes sting--in a good way!
My goto AS(s) are Spanish Floid Vigoroso and Aqua Velva Ice Blue. ( I like some menthol )
Have a bottle of Alt-Innsbruck Cologne/Aftershave ordered .
I hope for 30.00 some odd bucks it is worth it...or it may show up on B/S/T...

I second the qcs volstok. That paired with the volstok soap makes your eyes water its so cold.
