What's new

I'm a little worried.

I came to this site after researching some vintage razors and started on a pretty good DE RAD. Then I got an SE RAD (OK, I still have one). Then all of a sudden I found myself with 6 brushes and 6 soaps/creams.
During this time I got into Nemo's obscure German vintage research project and rekindled an interest in fountain pens.
Then I picked up an Esterbrook from ebay. Now I have an order in at Anderson pens for 2 replacement sacs, shellac, talc and ink.
How does one control an FPAD? Is there a cure? This site is costing me money. I refuse to go to half the forums here, lest I become infected.

One hour after typing that, I happened to be passing a Staples and had to pick up a Varsity 3 pack to tide me over. After testing out on the back of the packaging I'm amazed at how easy it was to write compared to ballpoint. Smoooooth. Maybe I'm sunk already.

I ordered some ink with the sacs.

I guess I have not yet opened myself up to InkAD?
Though the 3 pak Varsity has a very nice purple that would go well with the Estie...

For God's sake, stay the heck out of the Haberdashery, The Speakeasy ($50+ whiskey?), and The Brown Leaf!

I don't smoke, so The Brown Leaf holds no interest, but I'll have to confess The Speakeasy has caused me to part with some brass.

I stopped smoking Camels last July.

The BL rekindled my interest in pipes.

I now have 8 including one that I made.

And she is a beaut, mate

Still trying to decide on the design for the new block.
It's a straight stem design.

Really thinking paneled poker. Was going to do a freehand churchwarden, but there's a blemish on the edge of the bowl that, IMHO, kinda ruins the block for the freehand style.
But I should be able to chop it and get a nice bird's-eye.

I, myself, like the paneled poker. Just post pics, please

It will run its course (probably).

The variety of inks was overwhelming at first, but I'm well stocked now. I'm not tempted at all when Noodlers comes out with another creatively named shade of blue, purple, red, or brown. Although I like having different colors available, I'm kind of settling on Namiki Blue as an everyday favorite.

I bought a variety of pens, some better than others, and then discovered vintage Esterbrooks. I think I have enough of those, now. Now my focus is on using up the ink in as many pens as possible to get the "inked" ones down to a manageable number.

Better pens made me aware of the importance of good quality paper. I tried several kinds, and found some that work well with what I've got.

A couple of accessories, a pencil case, special pen cleaning solution, syringes…

And on the bright side, I've only made one shaving purchase this year, when I finally managed to get an Ever Ready Streamline.:thumbup1:

I'm certainly not a dedicated follower of fashion, I don't drink much and I have no intention of rekindling a former 20+ year addiction to tobacco. I think I'm safe.
Kinda wish no one had mentioned the Darkroom though.....

Darn it, that was some good practical advice, a mellowing of various ADs, then you had to go mention the Streamline. Aaaaaaaargh.
