Illanois – Double Hanging Razor Strop

There is a size difference. The 127 is a 2.5" and the 835 is 2''. Both are made from the same type of leather.

The size difference as pointed out. The 127 is also 2" longer.
The 127 is horsehide and I think that the 835 is cowhide. I could be wrong about the 835 though.
I have an older 127. It's a decent strop. The linen component is stiff but useable. I don't know prices in OZ, but that one's about $10. -$15. higher than I usually see them in North America, taking into account the exchange rate.

Speaking of horse butts…
While the older Illinois (Fromm) strops were horsehide the newer ones are all Cowhide despite the horsehead logo.

The differences are in size and how the leather is finished. Most have the smooth skin outermost like the 127. The exception is the 827 "Russian" where the flesh side is outermost and the skin side has been compressed with ridges to make the leather harder.
