*****Ikon CC in the House

:taz:Delirium setting in...RAD maxing out...So I bought an Ikon Open Comb base plate and a top cap to use with my Weber Bulldog Handle. This would be my first OC. Before the plates arrived I ordered an Ikon Shave Craft Handle (80mm), thinking it had the cool Ikon skull on the butt.
My first shave with the OC was terrific, close and no blood using a Personna Blue blade. The Ikon Shave Craft arrived and it was identical to the Weber Bulldog handle...no cool skull.
I returned to the web and prowled the Ikon site. No Slant yet, but the other bits were disappearing, selling out. No more top plates--Sold Out. My head pulsed with Ikon RAD and I ordered the Standard Base Plate--the Closed Comb plate. Now all was well.
The plate arrived whilst I was on a business trip. I just now tried it for the first time and with a Feather blade. First impression, it is more aggressive than the Weber Polished Head. It actually felt more aggressive than the Ikon OC.
The shave was super, as close as I will ever get to BBS. I had one nick but that was caused by a combination of tremors in the right hand and holding the razor an injudiciously short distance from my upper lip.
So, dang but I got a good shave!

:ouch1::ouch1::ouch1: I would recommend the entire Ikon kit to anyone who asks. Oh, and I discovered that the OSS Handle was matte like the Top Cap and the other plates...so what could I do? One is on the way...85mm...more Ikon goodness.

For now I am using my Weber Wave Handle with my Ikon.

Would you say this is a relatively aggressive closed comb baseplate? Love the bamboo handle, I hear the S3S razor that came with this handle as standard is discontinued , is a shame

I had S3S and didn't like it a bit. Too massive, awkward head, no feedback at all. I actually lost a lot of money selling it.
I also didn't like the Wave handle, because the grip was shaky, especially on ATG, and the regular Bulldog was much better.
Now I have both iKon II and Weber Bulldogs, and they are both great.
Just a few days ago I've bought an iKon OC and the jury is still out on this one. Although the fit and finish are astounding.
Saving my money for the Shave Craft 101 now.

I think I read your post on the Wave handle, and was prepared not to like it, but I did. I don't know why, but I like it. Of course, with the OSS handle on the way, this could completely change a week from now. I'll be interested to see what you think about the iKon OC. I had an incredible shave this morning with the iKon CC and La Toja cream.

Now I need the OC baseplate to keep up with you, Chadao. I pushed the handles on you, so I guess turnabout is fair play! Enablers sticking together. I believe the OSS handle is slightly longer than 85 mm. The Bulldog II handle is the 85. The OSS a bit longer and thinner. With more un-knurled bits segmenting the knurling.

I got an OSS handle with "machining flaws" -- which are not a problem for me, but it does look somewhat less "matte" on the smooth sections than my Bulldog II, and it also has no skull on the bottom of the handle.

Thanks a lot, Wagstaff...My OSS hasn't even arrived and already I want a Bulldog II, sob.:crying:

I'm bad at linking to particular posts, so I'll just re-post this. Top and bottom are Weber Bulldog and Weber Classic handles. The middle is the iKon Bulldog II. They're almost lined up with the bottom even, so you can see relative lengths. It's not a good camera (cellphone camera) and the background doesn't give the best contrast, but maybe you can tell the middle handle is the "matte" finish, too. I think it would look really good with a Weber ARC, though I haven't tried that yet.

I had not used my iKon CC plate for a while. The OC just matches my needs so well. I described the CC as aggressive. Tried it tonight, got careless, and it bit me big time just below my lower lip. "Never take anything for granted," I says to meself...:001_unsur
