a "+1" serves a valuable purpose of adding the fact that the replier agrees with the OP, and allows readers of the thread to see that more than one person share the opinion.
I agree that quoting the entire post is not always required. Quote a portion, or simply adding the +1 without a quote is often good enough.
I'm actually kind of surprised this thread isn't just filled with +1s
Like everyone else said, it just goes to show that the statement is sort of an agreed upon thing around here.
have you ever read a statement here, only to have a poster quote the whole thing and then add nothing but "+1" to it? These replies have no substance and do not continue the conversation.
+1 is a substitute for many phrases;
i agree.
Word.
True dat.
Right on.
Yes, that's true.
That's right.
Thaaaaaat's right.
Yep.
Yessir.
Yessum.
Sho 'nuff.
Yeah, what he/ she said.
What he/ she said.
Woo doggie.
That, in fact, is correct.
Heck yeah!
Shoot yeah.
Hell yeah.
This is just a small sample of what +1 encompasses. So, in all actuality, +1 = a whole helluva lot. Don't be dissin' on the +1. Them other phrases, they be taking just way too long to type out.
I think we should require members to have avatars. That's my beef. I like to see who i'm talking to.

another forum which i frequent has a "thanks" button. It uses the same software interface as b&b so it could probably be added here as well. It works better than +1 because all the "thanks" replies are simply the name of the person clicking the "thanks" button and they all stay associated under the post in which the thankers agree with, rather than being spread out throughout the thread. There is even a "thanks" counter like a post count on each users profile.
