What's new

If I wanted to own ONE boar that would be representative...

I would like to add one boar brush to my stable. I have a horse, a synth, two grades of badger, and a boar/badger combo.

I would like to own ONE boar brush that would be representative of the species, so to speak.

I sort of am partial to boar knots that are not dyed to look like badger knots. I mean, come on boar, be proud of who you are. You don't need to pretend to impress me.....

But I'm not married to that idea.

So, if you were going to have one boar that was a good example of what makes a boar brush good, which one would you pick?

Semogue 1305, 830, or or 620 are the most popular.

I had a 2011 LE style #1 but it was WAY too dense for my taste in brushes. I'm back to using the good old standard boars now

Hirsute

Used to have fun with Commander Yellow Pantyhose
The Omega 10005 is hard to beat. Wood handle, natural (not dyed) boar, medium sized knot and loft, and cheap.

Semogue Owners Club for wooden handle (cherry looks superb).
Semogue 830 for acrylic handle (though dyed)
Semogue 820 for acrylic handle & undyed.

The Omega 10083 Professional. It's on the larger side but not as big as the 10049, builds incredible lather, and is great on harder soaps.
And it's really inexpensive, about $14 from Amazon and around $10 on some other sites.

First choice would be a Semogue 1305, second choice would be a Semogue 830.

The 1305 is an awesome, do everything well brush. If you are just using hard soaps I'd lean more toward the 830, but don't be fooled, the 1305 will handle harder soaps just fine as well. The 620 was too floppy for me. You could also get one of each, a 1305 and 830 and rotate them like I do, but if I only had to pick one, it would definitely be the 1305!

I love my 1460, great brush. just the right size for both face and bowl lathering. But if I had to make the purchase over again I'd go with the Cherry Handled Semogue Owners Club. Gorgeous handle, beautiful natural blonde hairs (dyed boar hairs drive me bananas), and a great feel and backbone once broken in!

Another 1305 owner here. Great boar brush... But I will admit I've been contemplating picking up a few others to try. >.>

This thread makes me want to order another! I am waiting on a Semogue 1800 from Vintage Scent. Gee, I wonder if I can get Bruno to add a 1305 and a cherry SOC!!!

Soc. much better brush than the 1800 IMO. Great for face or bowl lathering. Very soft tips with great backbone. My favorite brush.
