I'd Forgotten How Good Blenheim Bouquet Really Is

Good morning gents. As I was perusing my ever growing cache of shave soaps this morning looking for a likely candidate, I spied the forlorn bowl of Penhaligon's regal Blenheim. Sitting on the shelf gathering a bit of dust is not an option for this soap. It is the older, tallow fifth version. I hadn't used it in nearly three months. Time to remedy that I thought.

I whipped up a luxurious lather with the B&B 2009 Limited Edition brush and proceeded to treat myself to a royal shave. The usual results were obtained. Great glide, creamy moisturising lather, and no razor rash in sight. I followed this up with Alt Innsbruck aftershave to complete the experience. While this sort of experience is nothing new to fans of the products, it is simply a nice way to be reintroduced to an experience you know should be great going in, and not to be disappointed. It is somehow comforting to be able to nearly take the experience for granted.

Regards, Todd

I used the English Fern with tallow this morning and I got the same result. It was wonderful.
I actully made a promise to myself that I was only going to use it on Sunday mornings.I have broken that promise twice now.

Alas, I will never know how good the tallow version is. The reformulated version is never going to be part of my soap store in view of the negative results it has.

I received a new bowl of EF soap in the mail yesterday (tallow first, still in the cellophane wrapping) and gave it a try. It was my first experience with any Penhaligon's soap and it was totally amazing. Awesome, thick lather. Super slick. Unreal smell. I was instantly hooked.

I love the BB scent (I have the cream) and would love to try it out in soap form at some point.

I am hopeful that Pen's takes all of the criticism to heart and fixes it. Recent threads suggest that at least one lot is performing pretty well, though nothing like the tallow version.
