What's new

I THOUGHT my RAD was terminal...

I hesitate very much to make such a bold assertion, but I do believe that my RAD has finally tapered off...after getting 14 DE's, 2 SE's, and 2 straights. Of course, compared to many of you gentlemen, such acquisitions are paltry; but considering I've only been at this for a month, I would say that I had a brief, but violent case of RAD. I counted today, and I haven't even shaved with over half my razors! Ridiculous! Going into this RAD thing, I had two theories. Either I would buy new razors forever, or I would buy razors until I found "the one," and then I would be cured. As it turned out, the latter theory was correct. A couple weeks ago I took delivery of a 1922 silver Tuckaway, and my RAD was cured! Okay, not exactly. Since getting the Tuckaway I may or may not have bought an Ever-Ready 1924, two fat-handled techs, two slims, and a fatboy, but other than those minor exceptions, I now declare myself in RAD remission. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to check the shipping status on that Tabac I ordered. Maybe I should order some SCS aftershave while I'm at it...

if your RAD flares up again, try the edwin jagger DE89L.

it cured my RAD and it costs less than a nice superspeed.

Exactly. I'm not a collector, so even though I have bought damn near everything under the sun, I only have:

1 Mühle R89
1 Simpsons Wee Scot
1 Simpsons Case
1 Speick Stick
1 Irisch Moos Stick
1 Tabac Puck
1 R.L. Safari Puck
100 Shark Blades

I've found AD does not go away,,,,,,,,,, it only changes it's focus, here I am, after a year plus of buying, trying, selling DEs and SEs, i'm slowly thining the razors to what I use in my roation (I don't collect, other than what I like to use), I'm thinking, my RAD wasn't so bad,,,,,,, but know I find myself looking for more brushes,,,,,,, oh, and wouldn't it be nice to have a couple differnet Str8s from what I have now...........:blushing:

I'm afraid that no matter what you try or do, your RAD will never really go away. So don't worry about it, accept it, and enjoy it.:w00t: :001_rolle

Ditto on that.

I haven't pared down my collection quite that much... but it is a ghostly shell of its former self.

With your personal description above, I would say you have a broad definition of "remission." But really, you shouldn't limit you AD to razors. There are soaps, creams, AS and colognes to get.
