I think I ruined my edge

I think my edge may be ruined. I've noticed what looks like tiny indentations, about the width of a hair. I think my poor technique, particularly under the nose, is to blame. I'm fairly certain it happened on the first or second shave, when I tried to get in under my nose and used an angle that was way too obtuse. I think what I'm going to do is find a moderately priced straight on the BST and send my Gold Dollar back to Ken for a touch up. At least it's an excuse to get my SRAD in gear.

Either GD's have gotten much worse in quality than the last time I've had one pass through my hands or something else is to blame.

Does the area of the blade not shave? Have you tried shaving with it or are you just seeing it? I'd suggest shaving with it before chalking it up as a loss.

Unless you just want an excuse to buy another razor, which I suspect is the true culprit....

I've been shaving with it (6 shaves), but I haven't gotten decent results yet. I know my technique isn't great yet, but it's got me wondering if the edge is a contributing factor to the poor results, or if it's just that I don't have the slightest clue what I'm doing with it. Maybe I just want to believe I suck less than I actually do.

Every time I think I know what goes into a good shave, a beginner poses me a question that I'm absolutely clueless about.

But I do know that I personally can get great results with the same razor some people cannot even get decent results with.

I'd hazard a guess that you may have ruined the edge with bad stropping or have failed at the upkeep of said razor by stropping. Many noobs ruin their first edge quite fast and then get superior results from the next
