I refuse to be embarrassed - Nose Hair solutions?

So I didn't see any threads after a few searches, and I am dying to know if any B&Bers are in the same boat.

I hate nose hair, and of course am cursed with an overabundance of it, even as hair disappears from my head. :crying: I'm using round-tipped scissors now to deforest the heinously fast-growing thicket. In the past, I've used a cheapie battery-powered one (meh), and the tweezerman manual one (frustrating as all get-out).

I dunno about you all, but the way hair grows out of my nostrils makes it damn near impossible to trim with any degree of consistency or success. The scissors are the best of a bad lot of options.

So the $64,000 question to B&B is; do any of you have a device/technique that works for you? Does anyone else suffer this sad fate?

I have the same problem too. I have one of those electric hair trimmers with different attachments. It has a very small and narrow one which I assume is for trimming nose hair. Whether or not it is intended for the nose, it works very very well.

even as hair disappears from my head. :crying:

Your hairs are not disappearing. They are migrating south. As they age they seek warmer, more sheltered and hospitable locations. Some find a home in your nose, some in your ears, some on your back. Still others continue south looking for an area where they can retire undisturbed and out of public scrutiny .

I've used the nose hair trimmer, but I also find scissors the best of a bad lot. Fortunately (or unfortunately) my nose is large enough that access isn't too difficult.

Three words. Needle nose pliers. And no - I'm not joking.

I wouldn't recommend that. MRSA is pretty active in the nose and plucking the hair causes lesions that would allow the bacteria to enter and cause infection. I'd stick to round tipped scissors or a nose hair trimmer.

Electric is the way to go here. There are a lot of them out there that are pretty similar, work well and are pretty cheap.

DON"T try one of the cheap manual one unless you like to inflict pain upon yourself.

SWMBO helps me trim my hairs. She lets me know when they are getting embarassingly out of control (I don't really notice until they are tickling my upper lip) and gives 'em a little trim with scissors.

It's good bonding time. :wink2:

Groom-Mate Platinum XL -- I bought it as a result of the above thread, and have been entirely pleased.

Thanks for the suggestion Gruder, but I have to say - I'm wary. The Groom Mate looks suspiciously similar to this Tweezerman, which I abandoned in frustration because I need to have a hand free to push my nose around in order to reach the hairs that inevitably escape trimming and curl attractively down out of my nostrils. :mad3:

At the risk of getting into TMI, can I ask how you use it? Do you just go for a general trim to clear the central pipe (so to speak), or do you have curly front-nostril hairs that you need to keep in line?

Obviously, a B&B recommendation carries great weight, I'm just touchy - the tweezerman used to pull 'em out by the roots - ouchie.

Oh, and WhosYerBob, the pliers thing TERRIFIES me. I *do* occasionally pull them in frustration, but you're definitely not supposed to - open sores in the nostril are risky, as dwnwrdishvnwrd said above.

You know, I hadn't considered that. I'll take your advice and get something ASAP. The Groom Mate Platinum XL looks like something that might work for me.

To the others that commented on my posting - yeah, I have a really *high* pain threshold. :wink2:

Based on reviews, the difference between the groommate and the tweezerman is that the former is much, much sharper. I was actually impressed by the heft and construction of the groommate overall. As for use, I'd say that the general use you discuss is more my style, though I have had success with precision targeting, as it were.

Obviously a man who speaks from experience. :crying:

Heft is a plus, and sharpness is really what's needed. You've convinced me - the Groom-Mate XL is on my wish list. I'll report back as warranted.

Thanks again, everyone! B&B, you're my savior.
