What's new

I owe someone a thank you.

So after going out to dinner tonight with some family we pulled up to our house and I realized that I didn't check the mail yesterday. "Hey babe, will you check the mail?" I said as we got out of the car. I stood in the driveway as she opened the box out on the street. And as soon as she did she says "What did you order now??!" I have yet to order anything since restraint ended on Christmas. I get into the house and grab a handy kitchen knife from the block on the counter and slice into the box. Open it up and what's inside? A BEAUTIFUL brush handle made of wood and acrylic. Absolutely amazing! Now, I had a few beers at dinner but I would most definetely remember ordering this. I have a rough idea who it may have come from but opening the box and finding the handle was a lot of fun. So I think I'll hunt the fine gent down in this thread so he can enjoy some of the fun of the hunt as well. Without further ado, a picture of the work of art from mail box today:

Now I have no idea what I could have done to deserve such a gift today but I am absolutely ecstatic! I happen to be in need of submitting an order to TGN and once I do it will include a knot for this beautiful handle as well. I'm really happy that I'm such a procrastinator or I would need to send another order.

Thank you so much to the sender! I can't tell you how happy I was to find this beautiful handle in the mail today. Feel free to post here or send me a PM to confirm my assumptions. I really look forward to it. :biggrin1:

In the meantime, thanks to B&B for creating this community that supports such amazing generosity. I'm once again amazed!

Sweet handle! Reason #1,768,314 (approx.) why this forum is the best on the web!
I couldn't agree more! I can't believe such a beautiful and unsolicited gift showed up in the mail today. Just awesome, just freaking awesome.
Beautiful handle! Whoever made that should be proud!
Enjoy your new brush when get a knot in it.
I can't wait! I need to pick a knot first and I'll need to find my calipers which are somewhere in a box but they're kinda lost from moving.

Well the mystery is solved! The sender was oakeshott who had put up a PIF for all of the members who made it through to the end of the Gentlemanly Restraint Until Christmas 2012 thread. I had completely forgotten that he had made this generous offer and had no idea what he would be sending. So in the end, it was an awesome surprise! Thanks oakeshott!!

I'll post some more pictures once I get it knotted. Still haven't decided on the knot though. Hmm...

One last question for you gents: does anyone know who made this brush?? The sender says he does not know and neither did the gent he bought it from. I am interested in knowing who created it though. More pictures can be taken if needed as well.
