What's new

I need an intervention!

Ok, so in my current financial situation, I do NOT need to be doing what I'm doing.

For the last 20 minutes I've been surfing the bay, and I've found 4 different Conklin Crescent fillers with current bids at what I think are VERY reasonable prices. Until I read this stupid FP collecting book I had no interest in vintage pens outside what I could find in flea markets.

Heaven Help me!

I sort of have the same issue but I look at pens, razors, pipes, and beer steins with lids... At least it is blocked at work... sadly Amazon and many other sites aren't so I look at them a bit. I find spending more time on the B&B helps keep me from the bay as hard as the seems. When it is really bad and work is slow I just turn off my web browser and read a book.

It started cause I was looking up a pic for the "collecting" thread. Unfortunately there's no end in site. Even more unfortunately, my financial situation will be much better within the next 2 months. Oh Dear.

Cause I have $7.00 to my name to last until payday. lol

Rice and beans makes for an interesting breakfast lunch and dinner :p It will be fine, just be happy with what you have today. Then in two months maybe look into acquiring more... Unless you pick up another AD...

Yeah, it's not as bad as it seems. Payday is Thursday, but in 2 weeks I'll be starting a new job. My wife also started her job after 4 months of unemployment. After we play some catch-up, things will be looking up for sure. We're certainly in a better boat than a lot of people are.

But, needless to say, I shouldn't be hovering over the "Place Bid" button on some of these. :D

So just look for ebay auctions that end Friday or later?

Write a few notes to the guys on the penpal group. That will take up some time if your handwriting is as poor as mine.

Remember that prices often climb dramatically in the last few seconds of an auction anyway, so that the "reasonable" prices you see now may double or more than double by the end. I like my Conklins, and there are some good deals on the bay, but you never can be sure what you'll get. Replacing a sac on one of these is a snap, but you can't always tell if the nib will need work (and look out for ones that don't have the original nibs). Then too, sometimes the pressure bars on these turn out to be broken, and it may not be easy to find a replacement.

If you buy enough pens on eBay, eventually you're going to end up with a real dud. Just tell yourself that this is not the best time for that to happen.

what's that I hear? A voice of reason and restraint in the B&B!? How did you get past the mods?

I distracted them by showing them my favorite razor...
