What's new

I mapped my face, but my hair seems too regular to be normal.

I decided to take a week off of shaving after having moles removed and my girlfriend was out of town, so I decided to map my face before I shaved off the hair growth. My hair seems to be completely straight down, like north to south on all of my face, except for the area behind my jaw under my ears, and around my adam's apple. In those spots, the hair goes east to west or west to east. This seems strange. Is it?

Not strange at all.
Mine is also pretty much north to south, except for some narrow strips on the sideburns that grow toward my nose, and this continues down under my jaw under my ears.
Chinstrap is north to south, except the area along the center of my throat which grows slightly away from center... but it's on an angle and I can get a solid BBS running pure south-north strokes and call them "ATG".

The areas where I need some angles are on the top "corners" of my head above the ears. Top, back, and sides, ATG is generally toward the crown, but the areas that would have been on my part line when I had hair take a 45 degree angle front to back and upward.

Others have described all kinds of idiosyncratic grain patterns--especially, it seems, on the neck--and have asked advice on how to deal with them.

Mine is exactly like yours- straight down on all but the apple and under the terminus of the jaw

My hair grows from the sides of my adams apple...upward..like a tree branch..I stretch my cheeks as far upward as I can...flip my straight upside..slowly and surely scyth inward...takes practice..and a heavier razor makes it easier for my very coarse beard type :)

Glad I'm not too weird. I just thought the mapping seemed incorrect because most people seem to describe the crazy patterns of their face. Thanks everyone.

I've seen threads where people talk about crazy patterns. Mine is similar to yours, Mike- almost uniformly down and toward my neck.
