Have viewed this fine forum many times and have taken a lot out of it re proper wet shaving.
Haven't ventured into the glamorous world of DE yet but have the quality shave cream and badger brush!
Just joined today to share a discovery!
Been increasingly fed up with the ridiculous pricing of cartridges. I left Gillette 3 years ago and tried Wilkinson Sword. They were better at first but have since upped their price and lowered their quality
So the quest was on for a decent cartridge system to cheaply fill the gap before I eventually try DE
Had settled on Sensor Excel which I remember to be the best shave I had before they went for the stupid numbers game with cramming more useless blades per head.
But they have gone up more than 150% and are also sadly over priced
Then came across a clone in Tesco..it's called "All about men" and has 3 blades like the old Sensor triples. It also has the same head mechanism and a very nice weighted handle with ergonomic grips and indents in the right places
A bit flimsy in that the head is prone to falling off when you tap to rinse
Shaving wise though - it's more aggressive than fusion and quattro and gives me a much closer shave than either system, even with out the gimmicky vibrator thing!
The best thing though is the price...
£1.89 for the handle and 5 cartridges and then £3.24 for a 12 pack
Now compare that to £25 for 10 fusion proglides that give a less close shave.............
If anyone else is fed up with being ripped off, have a cheap punt on the Tesco ones and see what you think....it will cost you less than the price of one Gillette cartridge!!
