What's new

I am vacillating.

Hi everyone. So I ordered an Omega 6598.15 in 100% Silvertip Badger Brush with Bison horn handle (http://www.omegabrush.com/english/dabarba/oggetto.php?id=293) but I can't stop thinking about a Chubby 2 in Best Badger for abut the same price. The vendor tells me to stick with the Omega as it would be a better brush. His main complaint is that the Chubby is a lather hog, meaning it traps a lot of lather inside the knot without releasing it. Any suggestions? I use my brushes for both creams and hard soaps and I do face lather with creams and bowl lather with soaps. So...should stick with Omega or not? Thanks guys.

I cant see the price. How much are we talking about?

For what it is worth, I love those horn handles. I actually have a couple of buffalo horns that I bought in Thailand. I was considering turning one of those into a brush handle.

How do you plan on building your lather with this new brush?

Your choice is 100% dependent on that.

If you say both.... Neither brush would get a recommendation from me as neither will be the best choice for both bowl and face lathering. If you want a jack of all trades, one size fits all, swiss army knife brush, get a Da Vinci 293. You will be disappointed with any other choice if you want to bowl and face lather with the same brush.

If you want a bowl lathering brush, get the Omega, if you want a face lathering brush, get the Chubby.

So........ ???????

#4 - That is what I was thinking. I bowl lather when at home and face lather when traveling. At some point (in a few months) I will be getting a Muehle Silver Fiber and that will be my traveling brush for face lathering because it is synthetic and dries very fast. I like the Omega because of the looks but understand that there are better brushing out there. What would be your ultimate suggestion for bowl lather with both soaps and creams? Thank you.

Kent BK8 is one I enjoy more than the others I have owned. Coming in closest to the Kent would be Simpsons Harvard H6 and Da Vinci 290

Here is my review of both Da Vinci brushes I have tried

I have sold my Badger travel brushes (Wee Scot and Case) in favor of a Muhle 19mm synthetic. I face lather with shave sticks exclusively when traveling.
