Hygiene and used brushes

Welcome to B&B!! I use a diluted mixture of barbicide for about 10 min., soak in diluted vinegar for about 10 min., wash w/ anti-bacterial soap and put in the sun to dry for about 8 hrs. Hope this helps!!

Having bought only one used brush, my experience is not that large to make a valid recommendation, but I also bathed it in Barbicide, make sure its diluted quite good. Before and after I used a good shampoo on the brush. I have a bit of a phobia to use a used brush, so this one is my only one. When I do a restoration and remove the old knot, I usually wear a dust mask and latex gloves.

Cool. Thanks, guys. I saw another thread about cleaning brushes - it was all about dish-soap followed by white vinegar - no mention of barbicide. I wonder, is the barbicide necessary to disinfect?
