Hydrogen Peroxide?

a few times i've soaked my boar in hydrogen peroxide then rinsing to clean it, and i just wanted to know if this is OK to do before i try it with a more expensive brush. It seems to work well, and i haven't noticed any negative effects, but you never know.

My suspicion is that, depending on the concentration of H2O2, you'd burn hairs of a more delicate brush. Most likely, you'll also bleach them.

There are some thoughts that the 2 band badger with brilliant white tips have been treated to get them that way.

I have never heard of anyone using peroxide bleach, borax or a vinegar water solution are coverred at emsplce.com

+1 for em's routine....

dawn dishwashing liquid, rinse, hair conditioner, rinse, vinegar+water+glycerin, rinse, dry

I have used the vinegar method, the borax method from one of mark(mantic's) videos, and the dawn dishwashing liquid. They all work good and are safe. Mantic also talked about using animal shampoo on your brush, that would def work. The hydrgoen peroxide will most likely make the hair brittle over time. It will also most likely cause a change in color if used often, i know people who have used it to dye there hair orange, know people who have used lemon juice to lighten there hair to ( this is on there head btw not the brush) there hair always became somewhat brittle i imagine the same effect would be experienced with the brush.

right, so that's a definite NO on the hydrogen peroxide.

yes exactly. borax is really cheap, you can get it at walmart, you can use it to clean your clothes, you can use it to clean your bathroom, its a very very versatile product so its worth a buy the uses are unlimited except gargling it or as a drink.
