How many times a week do you shave?

So I went to NY Shaving Company today. It was a great place and I got a solid haircut and a nice shave (I'm not quite sure their ultimate shave is worth $50 but we are in nyc).

When I was getting my shave the barber told me that I was shaving too many times a week.

So I'm doing a poll...


How many times a week do you shave?

Every day and a half to two, depending on how much time I have in the morning. Although I wish it was more frequent!

I shave on Sunday, Wednesday & Friday. My face can not take much more than that.

Unless you are shaving 4 times a day 7 days week, I can't possibly see how you can be over-shaving.

I shave every afternoon around five during the week and around two on weekends just because I can shave early then I would like to shave more often but there is no call to do so.

He thought you shouldn't be shaving more than two or three times a week....

I'm retired now so I usually shave every other day. But since I'm still somewhat new to DE shaving I've been shaving every day hoping that my learning period will be shorter. I get a closer and more comfortable shave with the every other day schedule and I'll probably return to that once I get the DE technique mastered. Plus it saves you money - blades, soap and aftershave last twice as long!

Normally I'd shave every day. But lately I've needed to give my face a break. My technique isn't what it could be, so I'm getting razor burn. So I'm taking a couple days off for healing.

To the poster wondering how you can overshave, you must be fortunate enough not to have sensitive skin. Even with the right technique it can still cause problems. Especially for me now in the cold weather, add dry to the sensitive skin.

I shave every day. If I skip a day I get ingrown hairs and more irritation. Even if I can do a full multipass shave, one pass will keep those ingrowns at bay.
