How many shaves are you getting from an Astra SP?

Hello Gents.

I wad just wondering how many shaves you all ate getting from an ASTRA SP in a 39C? I'be been using one blade all this week and getting good lean shaves.

I don't have a 39C, but I find Astras are fine in most any DE. I get at least four shaves (three passes with a little bit of buffing). Great blade value.

4-5 depending on the number of passes. I could get more as the blade is still sharp but I tend to get ingrowns if I try to make blades last too long, even though it's cutting it must also be pulling - 4-5 seems to be the magic number.

I don't own a slant but in a 38C I've gotten six shaves per blade.

Similar to everybody else, I get 4-5 comfortable shaves with that blade.

I do 4-5, same as everyone else. In my case I'm doing it in a Gillette Slim Adjustable.

I get 3-5. Though some of the 3's may not have been actually done blades.. and more just me wanting to hurry it along to the Super Iridium that's on deck.

I get double the shaves out of any blade when I use them in either of my slant head razors.

typical would be around 8 to 10 shaves out of just about any blade.

I'm only getting three to four shaves. Are the Astra SPs coated? I wonder if I'm wiping off the coating when I dry the blade.

I know I can get more, but I find three shaves the optimum with the Astra SP. I don't see any real advantage pushing it beyond this.

Don't own a 39. But, like I said on another post, I only get 3 comfortable shave from any blade I've tried. And Astras are no exception. I've got a lot of them for cheap, so I don't mind.

I use a Muhle R89 and I get 3 good shaves from the Astra SP. I tried a fourth shave once with the Astra, but the results were not that great. Then again, I think that my lather may have not been that great that day or I may have been rushing the shave to get out the door. I may try four shaves again in the future. I have a stockpile of blades, so I didn't bother with going past three shaves.

I do this with all my blades, with the exception of NOS Schicks, which I use for a week.

I put a new blade in on Mondays and Thursdays. I get either 3 or 4 out of them depending on if I take Saturday or Sunday off, which I usually do not. By using the same change days every week with every blade I don't have to keep track of counting shaves or go by feel. "Ouch, I guess this one is beyond it's prime!"

Lately with an open comb I am wishing I had stopped at three shaves....used to get 4-5 with no problem in the EJ89L.

I get 3 smooth sharp shave out of 34C. In ATT, I get 3 shave but notice significant blade degradation in 3rd shave. Long winded way of saying, I get 3 shaves from this blade.
