How long should a Whipped Dog Silvertip last?

So I am in love with this brush and am hoping I won't have to replace it anytime soon. I have the 22mm set at the regular depth (55mm I think), and I was just wondering if this brush was made to last? I know its handmade so I'm a bit unsure whether the knot will fall out much easier than a Simpson for example? I treat the brush correctly by cleaning and drying properly.

I have a Whipped Dog myself, but I've only had it for a few months, so I can't attest to their longevity, but I see no reason why it shouldn't last several years if you take care of it. Simpsons are handmade as well. In the world of shaving brushes, my impression is that handmade is a good thing.

Got it! Just curious, didn't want you under the misconception that the knot was actually handmade.

I have a lot of the TGN knots, both the WD and the TGN are from Chinese manufacturers and I think with proper care they will outlast us.

Regards,

Justin

I love my Whipped Dog silvertip. Washed it in the oxy-clean that Larry sent with it, no animal smell. I don't think it lost any hair during that process (not sure) but it lost NONE since. I like it maybe more, maybe not (jury's out) than the Simpson's Duke 2 in best I have, which lost some hair the first several times. (The Duke2 is still ridiculously dense, and so a different thing... Ihaven't settled on a real favorite brush yet, between the few I have. I'm still hoping -- in my little love-for-the-animals, veganny brain, that I'll like a synthetic or horsehair brush best.... but so far, the Simpson's for extra (superfluous, even) -pass shaves with luxurious creams; the Whipped Dog for most everything). This doesn't say much about what happens over the years. But so far the Whipped Dog brush seems like a long-term keeper.

Really? None? I lose one every now and then! :biggrin1: But I've only had it for a few weeks.
